More than 200 buggies made of Metinvest steel for Ukrainian defenders

More than 200 combat buggies have already been manufactured for Ukrainian defenders from steel provided by Metinvest Group. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine recently received another batch of vehicles. The vehicles were assembled as part of the cooperation between the Southern Operational Command and the public initiative “Buggy for the Armed Forces”, and the metal was provided free of charge by Metinvest-SMC as part of the Steel Front military project, the press release said.

Since the beginning of 2023, Metinvest-SMC has donated about 150 tons of steel products to create this maneuvering equipment. The buggy vehicles are used on the front line for reconnaissance, evacuation of the wounded, ammunition delivery and other combat missions in difficult areas of the frontline.

“Metinvest has been supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces since the first days of the full-scale war. In particular, Metinvest-SMC has been providing steel products free of charge for the manufacture of buggies for two years. The vehicles are sent to various sectors to help defenders carry out combat missions. This is the first time that border guards have received such vehicles. We hope they will serve our defenders well and save many lives,” commented Olexander Palamarchuk, Customer Service Director of Metinvest-SMC.

In addition to the buggy, the company also manufactures other products for the army as part of the Steel Front, including protective screens to counter FPV drones that are installed on armored vehicles. Over the three years of the full-scale invasion, Metinvest has allocated UAH 8.4 billion to support Ukraine. A significant portion of these funds, UAH 4.4 billion, was donated to the Ukrainian Armed Forces as part of the Steel Front initiative.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Metinvest has launched mass production of protective screens for Roshel Senator armored vehicles. This Canadian vehicle is actively used at the front line to transport personnel, evacuate the wounded and patrol. We also mass-produce protective screens for Stryker armored personnel carriers.
