Metinvest’s steel is the basis for new polar cruise ships

Metinvest Group contributed to the construction of two modern cruise ships, Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit. They were launched in 2022-2023 by the Italian shipbuilding company T. Mariotti and steel structure manufacturer Cimolai for Seabourn Cruise Line. This is reported by Metinvest.Media.

These polar-class expedition ships are designed specifically for traveling to the Arctic and Antarctic. They have a reinforced hull that allows them to safely overcome the harsh conditions of the northern seas. Thanks to modern equipment, Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit offer their guests unique opportunities to explore wildlife. The ships are equipped with two submarines, 24 inflatable Zodiac boats for landing on the shore, kayaks, and a team of experts to help passengers get to know the world around them.

The ships were built using 10,000 tons of hot-rolled Metinvest Trametal plates. The ships are 172 meters long and 24 meters wide and can accommodate 260 passengers and 120 crew members. There are 132 cabins on board, most of which are deluxe with guest and sleeping areas, and some are even double-decker.

Today, Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit are actively cruising the northern seas. It is not the first time that T. Mariotti and Cimolai have cooperated with Metinvest, using the company’s steel to build advanced ships.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in November 2022, the Ukrainian Navy’s Hetman Ivan Mazepa military corvette built by RMK Marine Shipyard, a Turkish shipyard, was launched. The steel used to make the corvette’s hull was shipped from Metinvest’s Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol and Azovstal before the full-scale war.
