Metinvest Group has launched mass production of protective screens for Roshel Senator armored vehicles as part of its Steel Front military initiative. This Canadian equipment is actively used at the front line to transport personnel, evacuate the wounded and patrol, according to a press release from Metinvest.Media.
Although armored vehicles have a good level of basic protection, they require additional security measures on the battlefield. This primarily concerns attacks by FPV drones and shell fragments. For this purpose, Metinvest has developed special metal structures that are installed on top of the vehicle body. They intercept the blast wave and debris, which significantly reduces the risk of damage to vehicles and injuries to the crew.
The project is being implemented in close cooperation with the military. Metinvest’s engineers created the screens together with the crews that are already using Roshel Senator in combat.
“We do not just produce steel. We create solutions that save lives. Roshel is good equipment, but today’s war requires new approaches to crew safety. Steel Front’s protective screens are an adaptation to real threats, primarily FPV drones, which have become the main danger to armored vehicles,” said Olexander Mironenko, Chief Operating Officer of Metinvest Group.
As of today, the Canadian manufacturer Roshel has handed over 1700 Senator armored vehicles to Ukraine. They are actively operating in the east and south of the country. Thanks to the protective screens, Ukrainian defenders will receive even more reliable equipment that meets the modern challenges of war.
Earlier, Metinvest launched the mass production of protective screens for Stryker armored personnel carriers in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These designs are aimed at increasing the resistance of armored vehicles to attacks by kamikaze drones, which is one of the main threats on the modern battlefield.
Over the three years of the full-scale invasion, Metinvest Group has allocated UAH 8.4 billion to support Ukraine. A significant portion of these funds – UAH 4.4 billion – was transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of the Steel Front initiative.
