Metinvest-SMC handed over 100 armor plates to volunteers

Steel trading company Metinvest-SMC provided the volunteers of the NGO Quality of Life with another batch of armor plates in the amount of 100 pieces. It is stated in the company’s Facebook message.

Armored protection is necessary so that volunteers can deliver humanitarian goods to the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Representatives of the NGO will also hand over 60 armor plates to defenders from military formations and TRO detachments.

From March 2022, simultaneously with the purchase of ready-made solutions, Metinvest enterprises began to establish their own production of steel for the production of rigid protective elements of body armors. Thanks to the introduction of new technical solutions, adjustment of the chemical composition of alloys, parameters of hot rolling of the sheet and heat treatment of finished products, it was possible to reduce the thickness of the plates while maintaining their bullet resistance at the 4th class level.

Metinvest-SMC continues to provide armor plates free of charge for the provision of military units, TRO, communal structures and individual soldiers. More information can be found by link.

As GMK Center reported earlier, last year Metinvest-SMC developed a new type of protection for the Armed Forces of Ukraine – armored shields, which protect machine gunners and operators of other large-caliber weapons from being hit by small arms ammunition and debris during hostilities. The shield is installed on the swivel rack in the body of a pickup truck, SUV and other passenger or specialized vehicles. The rack, in turn, is mounted on a strong bearing and attached to the frame of the car itself.
