Metinvest-SMC handed over 1.4 thousand armored plates to the defenders of Sumy region

Steel trading company Metinvest-SMC handed over another batch of 1.4 thousand armor plates for defenders in the Sumy region. This is stated in the press release the company’s Facebook page.

“We are always ready to help the defenders of Ukraine, who are bringing our victory closer! The next batch of armor plates was sent to help defenders, as well as communal and medical services that ensure the livelihood of the communities of Sumy region,” Metinvest-SMC notes.

According to the head of the Sumy regional administration Dmytro Zhvyytskyi, 700 bulletproof vests will be made from the provided armor plates.

“I thank Metinvest-SMC for providing such necessary assistance to our defenders and workers who ensure the livelihood of Sumy region’s communities. We are doing everything for the victory of Ukraine!”, he commented.

At the beginning of the war, the Armed Forces urgently needed a large number of high-quality bulletproof vests. Initially, Metinvest-SMC arranged deliveries of armored steel from abroad, and later it began to be produced at the company’s facilities. Currently, Metinvest’s enterprises are able to produce about 20 tons of special steel per week. In addition, the Group imported ready-made body armors.

Body armors are provided free of charge. Requests to receive armor plates should be sent to the email address: smc@metinvestholding.com.

As GMK Center reported earlier, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Metinvest Group has handed over 150,000 body armors to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Thus, every tenth body armor in the Armed Forces is made of Metinvest steel or purchased by the Group

In general, since the beginning of the war, the amount of assistance from Metinvest to Ukraine and Ukrainians has reached more than UAH 2 billion. 1.3 billion of them is directed to support the army and help the military.
