The railway divisions of the combines transported 51.4 million tons of rock mass, ensuring over 550 million tonne-kilometers of freight turnover

During January-September 2025, Metinvest Group’s mining and processing plants transported 51.4 million tons of ore from quarries and shipped 11.4 million tons of finished products. The total freight turnover amounted to approximately 556.6 million tonne-kilometers, according to a statement by Metinvest.Media.

A significant share of domestic and international transportation is carried out by rail, which remains a key link in the production process. More than 1,650 employees work in the railway sector at the company’s three mining and processing plants, providing ore transportation, warehouse maintenance, track repair, traffic safety control, and dispatching.

The total length of the plants’ permanent and mobile railway tracks reaches 776 km. By optimizing transport routes, the companies are reducing fuel costs and improving logistics efficiency.

In particular, in the spring, the Central Mining and Processing Plant implemented a project to reduce the distance of ore transportation to the crushing plant through a new junction between the Grekuvata Promyslova and Rozvantuzhna stations. This will save about 500 tons of diesel fuel annually and provide annual savings of over UAH 25 million.

Metinvest notes that, despite the difficult military situation and restrictions on operations, the railway services of the combines consistently ensure the transportation of ore and finished products, maintaining the continuity of the production cycle and the company’s logistical stability.

In April 2024, Metinvest introduced a new operating model for mining enterprises in Kryvyi Rih – a single administrative and management center for the Central, Ingulets, and Northern Mining and Processing Plants.
