Metinvest Polytechnic has graduated nearly 50 more master’s degree holders in the iron and steel sector

Metinvest Polytechnic, Ukraine’s first private mining and metallurgical university, graduated nearly 50 master’s degree students in March of this year. This was reported in a press release from Metinvest.

Among the graduates are employees of the group’s enterprises, including Zaporizhstal, Kametstal, and the Kryvyi Rih Mining and Processing Plants.

Most students combined their studies with work at the enterprises; the educational process focused on real-world production challenges—from improving efficiency and automating processes to implementing modern technologies, developing computer solutions, and ensuring workplace safety.

“For us, Metinvest Polytechnic is first and foremost about people, without whom no strategy can succeed. We invest in the university because we understand that modern industry is driven by specialists with practical experience and a technological mindset. This is our response to the skills shortage and, at the same time, our contribution to the development of the entire sector. We train specialists for real-world tasks: people who can contribute from day one and strengthen our operations. These are exactly the professionals who will be critically needed for Ukraine’s reconstruction,” noted Tetyana Petruk, Director of Sustainable Development and Employee Relations at Metinvest.

The university focuses on practical training and close ties with the real sector of the economy—students work on real-world business cases, complete internships in production, and gain experience while still in school.

As noted by Eduard Gribkov, head of the Department of Metallurgy and Innovative Technologies at Metinvest Polytechnic, in addition to traditional theoretical training, students gain a solid practical foundation. The university has all the necessary resources for this, and career paths have been established at the group’s enterprises. For company employees, tuition is free, and scholarships are available for academic excellence. Educational programs cover both traditional metallurgical fields and modern ones—automation, IT, energy, economics, and management.

Metinvest guarantees the best students their first job, opportunities for career growth, financial support in high-demand fields, and participation in motivational programs.

The university has already launched a preparatory campaign for the new admissions cycle for educational programs for future bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students, as well as for the associate degree level—without the need to take the National Multidisciplinary Test (NMT) beforehand. A simplified admission procedure is again in effect this year for war veterans. The 2026 admission rules will soon be published on the university’s website.

Metinvest Group founded the university in 2020; the first intake of students took place in the fall of 2022, and this year’s admissions campaign will be the fifth. In total, the university has already graduated over 300 master’s students.

As a reminder, Metinvest Polytechnic is strengthening its cooperation with leading European companies. In January of this year, representatives of the university visited the Sarralle Group’s production site.
