143 masters received diplomas that enable them to work at any enterprise in the world

Metinvest Polytechnic, a Ukrainian non-governmental mining and steel university, has graduated its first specialists in modern engineering and technical specialties. 143 masters received diplomas that enable them to work at any enterprise in the world, Metinvest Group said in a press release.

The graduation ceremony took place on April 3 in Kyiv. The ceremony was attended by the university and Metinvest Group management, representatives of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance and the Federation of Steelmakers of Ukraine, and rectors of technical universities in the country.

The students were enrolled in 11 study programs. Out of 143 masters, 89 passed the certification with excellent marks, and 35 students received diplomas with honors. The chosen specialties included:

  • intelligent control systems in mining and metallurgical production;
  • business processes and operational efficiency;
  • computer science and digital intelligence;
  • labor safety audit and consulting;
  • innovative technologies and environmental protection systems;
  • project management of changes in the mining and steel business;
  • computer-aided design of mechatronic systems, etc.

«I am confident that the graduates of Metinvest Polytechnic will become the drivers of Ukraine’s recovery and the establishment of a powerful and technologically advanced industry. This graduation is the first step towards a new engineering education, a new technical elite, and a new future for the country,» said Yuriy Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest Group.

Most of the graduates are employees of Metinvest’s enterprises who plan to further develop their profession and grow their careers while remaining a reliable pillar of Ukraine.

During their studies, the students attended more than 200 lectures, more than 500 practicals and offline sessions – more than 200 hours of workshops at Metinvest’s enterprises in Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih.

«Engineering education is extremely important for the revival of Ukraine’s economy and industry in times of war. Increasing the appropriate number of specialists and training them to meet the real needs of the economy are the key challenges facing higher education today. Such specialized universities with a focus on engineering and technology are especially important for mining and metals companies and should become the basis for overcoming the personnel shortage and a driver for the development of Ukrainian industry and science,» said Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in February, Metinvest Polytechnic announced the start of the 2024 admission campaign. This year, the university is enrolling students in 16 bachelor’s and 18 master’s programs and is also opening a postgraduate program.

Metinvest Polytechnic is a university of the future that provides new and wide opportunities for young people and uses modern digital systems and platforms in education. The university was founded by Metinvest Group in June 2020, and the first enrollment of students took place in 2022. The main goal of the project is to bring European-level higher education to Ukraine. Metinvest guarantees the best students a first job, career development, financial and other incentives.
