The production of sinter ore in June decreased by 33.3% y/y, but remained at the level of May

In January-June 2023, the Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Plant (KZHRK) reduced the production of marketable underground iron ore by 31.3% compared to the previous month – to 1.2 million tons. It is stated in the corporate enterprise’s newspaper.

During the first half of 2023, Ternivska mine produced 295 thousand tons of iron ore, which is 39.2% less y/y, Kozatska – 285.4 thousand tons (-39.9% y/y), Pokrovska – 247.6 thousand tons (-24.3% y/y), Kryvorizka – 377 thousand tons (-10.3% y/y).

The production of sinter ore in June decreased by 33.3% y/y, but in general remained at the level of May, in particular:

  • Ternivska mine – 50 thousand tons (-33.3% y/y; +0% m/m);
  • Kozatska – 25 thousand tons (-66.7% y/y; -54.9% m/m);
  • Pokrovska – 48 thousand tons (-20% y/y; +400% m/m);
  • Kryvorizka – 77 thousand tons (-14.4% y/y; -9.4% m/m).

The company’s production plan for the production of commercial iron ore in June 2023 was 100% fulfilled.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2022 KZHRK reduced production of commercial iron ore from underground mining by 33.3% compared to 2021 – to 2.89 million tons.

In the 12 months of 2022, Ternivska mine produced 770,000 tons of marketable iron ore (-34% y/y), Kozatska – 783,000 tons (-29.1% y/y), Pokrovska – 582 thousand tons (-10.2% y/y), and Kryvorizka – 753 thousand tons (-46.6% y/y).

Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Plant (KZHRK) is the largest producer of sinter ore in Ukraine. Most of its production volume is exported to Eastern Europe. KZHRK operates four underground mines. Its reserves amount to 210 million tons of rich iron ores, 58.6% Fe.
