Kametstal started the repair of the T4-5 overhead power line

Kametstal Iron and Steel Works has started the repair of overhead power lines T4, T5 in the high-voltage section of the network and substation workshop. This is stated in the press release on the company’s Facebook page.

Line T4, T5 with a length of almost 2 km is one of the longest at the plant. It supplies electricity to substations DRZ-3, DRZ-5, and DRZ-9, which provide power supply to rolling shops, blast furnace cooling pumping stations, and blast furnace bottling machines.

«Over time, the deviation of the traverses of the power transmission line support from the horizontal position leads to the formation of defects and cracks in its individual sections and, as a result, to the increasing wear of steel structures. Therefore, for the sake of stable and high-quality work of the plant’s power lines, they have developed an established mechanism for carrying out capital repairs,» the message says.

The scope of performed works includes repair of steel structures of supports – their strengthening and correction, replacement of faulty rebar and elements that have lost their load-bearing properties, restoration of grounding circuits, repair of foundations, etc. They will also restore the lightning protection equipment on five spans between the supports and replace the damaged insulators along the entire line.

«This major overhaul is the foundation of trouble-free operation of the transmission line, and therefore, a guarantee of reliable power supply of the company’s production divisions,» the plant summarizes.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Kametstal started implementation of an investment project aimed at the accumulation of coke gas for its further use in production. The goal of the project is to improve the economic efficiency and energy independence of the enterprise.
