From the beginning of 2023, Kametstal Iron and Steel Works, as part of the locomotive park modernization program, replaced diesel engines on three diesel locomotives of the TGM-4 series. This is stated in the press release.
«Three diesel locomotives of the TGM-4 series, which received a new “heart” – engines from the American companies Cummins and Caterpillar, already successfully provide railway transportation for blast furnace and steel production. They demonstrate high work productivity, trouble-free stability in operation and, at the same time, significant savings in diesel fuel and diesel lubricant,» the message says.
Two more locomotives were put into operation after major repairs at locomotive repair enterprises of Ukraine.
«Despite all the difficulties of the wartime, primarily logistical, our railway workers completed this year’s program of modernization of the company’s locomotive fleet, and also carried out extensive work on their own repair of diesel locomotives and railcars, in particular, a fleet of dump trucks and coke trucks, which allowed to reduce the fee for using wagons and rotating wagons. This is a joint team effort of the operation shop and the UZT repair shop,» the plant summarizes.
As GMK Center reported earlier, Kametstal working on optimization production processes and reducing the consumption of energy resources. In September 2023, the hirers of the plant demonstrated effective team efforts and added efficiency to their work.
