As part of a program to modernize safety equipment that helps gas rescuers safely prevent and prevent emergencies related to the use of gas in production, Kametstal has upgraded 70% of its fleet of such equipment. This is stated in a press release by Metinvest.Media.
The company has been running the program for two years in a row. In 2023, despite the difficulties of wartime, 50% of gas protection equipment was updated. Recently, 30 oxygen isolating regenerative respirators R-30EX have been added to the new equipment of the gas rescue station.
«We have made another step towards upgrading the company’s gas protection equipment – it has now been modernized by more than 70%. By the end of the 2024 program, we expect to have 100% re-equipped the fleet of respirators with modern P-30EX, which have already become reliable assistants not only for gas rescuers but also for employees of all gas-consuming units of the plant, as they create a new level of safety during gas-hazardous operations,» said Roman Golub, head of the gas rescue station.
As GMK Center previously reported, Kametstal is carrying out a major overhaul of the KAR-30 No. 3 air separation unit in the oxygen compressor shop. The unit supplies oxygen and nitrogen to technological processes in the main production units, primarily BOF and blast furnace.
In 2023, the company shipped more than 1.996 million tons of steel to customers. Almost 35% of the total volume was shipped to Ukrainian customers, and more than 65% to external customers from 21 countries.
