The unit produces grinding balls with a diameter of 80 mm for the Northern Mining, Ingulets Mining and Central Mining

Kametstal steel plant has started overhaul of the sectional furnace №1 of the ball rolling mill, the company’s press service reported on its Facebook page.

The unit makes a rapid heating of blanks for further rolling of grinding balls with a diameter of 80 mm. Finished products are delivered to Metinvest’s mining and processing plants in Kryvyi Rih: Northern Mining, Ingulets Mining and Central Mining.

During the overhaul it is planned to replace about 50 tons of refractory kiln masonry, perform revision and restoration of furnace rollers, as well as replacement of several mechanical units of the unit and electrical equipment.

“The main goal is to increase the reliability of the unit and increase the quality of heating the workpieces. Thanks to the restored lining, the consumption of natural gas during the operation of the furnace will be reduced,” the statement reads.

Earlier GMK Center reported that in May Kametstal Kametstal started a long-term repair of the blast furnace №12. The repair was scheduled to begin in April, but the team then opted to produce more products. The company has three blast furnaces: №9, 1M and 12.

In February, the company Kametstal produced 286.8 thousand tons of sinter, 168.1 thousand tons of pig iron, 180.4 thousand tons of steel, 70.2 thousand tons of rolled products. The total output of marketable metal products is 170.9 thousand tons. In mid-March, the steel plant produced 30 thousand tons of rolled products.
