The agreement will also allow Gestamp to return to Arvedi scrap from the production of stamped parts

Italian steelmaker Acciaieria Arvedi has signed an agreement with Spanish multinational Gestamp to supply its low-emission steel grade Arvzero. This is stated in a press release from Gestamp.

The agreement will also allow Gestamp, which produces metal components for the automotive industry, to return steel scrap from the production of stamped parts to Acciaieria Arvedi, Italy’s largest flat-rolled steel producer.

«With this agreement, we are continuing our circular economy roadmap in line with Gestamp’s ESG strategy, especially with regard to decarbonization in the automotive components industry through the use of Arvzero’s low-emission steel derived from high quality scrap,» said Javier Imaz, Gestamp’s Chief Procurement Officer.

Acciaieria Arvedi produces hot- and cold-rolled flat products, welded pipes and precision tapes, with a total annual production volume of over 5 million tons. The company produces steel coils from recycled scrap for various sectors, including the automotive industry.

Last fall, Arvedi commissioned a new scrap shredder at the Acciaieria Arvedi plant in Cremona. The unit was developed by Danieli Centro Recycling. The equipment is designed to process small and medium-sized raw materials. Its capacity reaches 1 million tons per year. The new shredder will produce high-quality, high-density feedstock for feeding into the company’s electric arc furnaces.
