Interpipe to invest $120 million in modernizing railway product manufacturing by 2032

Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe plans to invest $120 million in modernizing its railway product manufacturing facilities by 2032. The company presented the investment program at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 international conference held in Rome, according to a press release.

The program includes several key projects: the construction of a new heat treatment line, the expansion of wheel and axle finishing capacities, and the modernization of production workshop infrastructure. These measures are aimed at strengthening the company’s export potential and developing the production of high-tech products.

As noted by Vitaliy Sueta, the company’s director of products and resources, Interpipe’s long-term strategy is to increase its share of the passenger wheel market.

“With a strong position in the freight segment, this investment program will allow Interpipe to expand its product portfolio. In the passenger segment, each train has its own wheel design, which may require the development of a separate production process,” he emphasized.

An important component of modernization is the environmental aspect: each project provides for a reduction in CO2 emissions and increased energy efficiency.

“We are strengthening our export positions thanks to a completely new level of quality,” Sueta added.

Earlier, it was reported that Interpipe intends to deepen cooperation with national railway operators in European countries, in particular Renfe (Spain), SNCF (France), and Trenitalia (Italy), and complete certification with leading railcar manufacturing corporations: Siemens, Alstom, and Stadler.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2024, Interpipe increased sales of railway products by 21% y-o-y to 114,000 tons. 76,000 tons (+26% y-o-y) were shipped to the European market, and 17,000 tons (+13% y-o-y) to the Ukrainian market.

Interpipe is an international vertically integrated pipe and wheel company, one of the top 10 seamless pipe manufacturers in the world and one of the top 3 producers of solid-rolled railway wheels.
