Interpipe supplied premium pipes for gas production in Romania

Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe has supplied premium pump and compressor pipes to Romania. This is stated in the company’s press release.

As part of a project to modernize the Bilchureshti gas field in southern Romania, Interpipe shipped pipes with high-seal UPJ-M connections to upgrade 39 wells. The project is expected to increase daily gas production from 14 million to 20 million cubic meters.

According to Ivan Mazanka, Interpipe’s director of pipe sales for the European market, this is the first large-scale shipment of UPJ-M threaded pipes that the company has delivered not only to Romania but to Europe as a whole.

“The design of the premium UPJ-M connection is ideal for gas production due to its high tightness and resistance to internal and external pressure. We hope that this successful experience will open the way for our products to other oil and gas projects in the region,” he added.

Romania has been actively increasing natural gas production in recent years by modernizing existing infrastructure and developing new fields. The Bilchureshti field, where this project is being implemented, was discovered back in 1962.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Interpipe is constantly expanding its presence in the global market. The company recently began supplying casing pipes to Italy for the salt industry, manufactured its first pipes for offshore gas production in the Black Sea, and mastered the production of super-heavy pipes weighing over 3 tons. In addition, Interpipe is actively developing its passenger wheel business in Europe, complementing its successful presence in the freight rolling stock segment.

Interpipe is a global manufacturer of steel pipes and railway products, which it supplies to more than 50 countries around the world. In 2024, the company sold 511,000 tons of pipes and 115,000 tons of railway products. The total number of employees is about 9,500, of which more than a thousand currently serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Last year, Interpipe paid UAH 5.5 billion in taxes, a record amount in the company’s history.
