Interpipe supplied pipes for a geothermal project in Poland

Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe participated in the Polish POLICE GT-1 project, aimed at assessing the hydrogeological conditions in the city of Police. The results obtained may serve as a basis for the construction of a modern geothermal energy-based heat supply system. This is stated in the company’s press release.

As part of the project, Interpipe supplied 13 3/8» casing pipes for the intermediate well column, made of high-strength L80 steel. The products are intended for geothermal exploration and appraisal wells and are designed to withstand significant loads at great depths.

The pipes were engineered to withstand significant downhole stresses while maintaining optimized wall thickness for collapse safety. Corrosion-resistant alloys were applied to ensure durability in high-salinity environments prone to chloride corrosion.

The scope included drilling a vertical well to a depth of 2,400 meters (+/-10%), enabling the extraction of water with a minimum temperature of 70°C and an expected yield of 250 m³/h. Final depths were reached at 2165 meters.

«This is one of several geothermal projects currently being implemented in Poland. We are proud to have been selected as a partner in this development. We continue to actively promote semi-premium (UPJ-SP), and easy-to-run (UPJ-QR) solutions dedicated to geothermal applications, strengthening our expertise and market recognition,» said Bartłomiej Kania, OCTG Sales Manager for Continental Europe.

As a reminder, Interpipe recently successfully mastered the production of pump and compressor pipes with PTFE sealing rings, strengthening its competitive position in the oil and gas market. The new product complements the OCTG solutions range and is designed for challenging production conditions.
