Interpipe starts supplying casing for the Italian salt industry

Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe is expanding its presence in the European market by supplying pipe products for highly specialized projects. The company has recently started supplying casing pipes with a diameter of 127 mm to Italy, where the products will be used in the salt industry in the province of Pisa, Tuscany. This is stated in the company’s press release.

These pipes are manufactured in accordance with the international API 5CT standard, which guarantees their compliance with high reliability, corrosion resistance and strength requirements. Salt mining in Tuscany has a thousand-year history and has been carried out on an industrial scale for the last century. During the drilling process, seamless casing and tubing are used to withstand aggressive chemical conditions.

The European market has become one of the key markets for Interpipe. The company has mastered more than 250 new types of tubular products, mostly for niche applications, which meet the specific requirements of EU customers. In particular, for such challenging tasks as drilling in highly corrosive environments, such as salt mines that supply ultra-pure raw materials for the pharmaceutical and agricultural industries.

In 2024, Interpipe reduced specific CO2 emissions per ton of seamless pipes by 61% compared to 2010. These figures already exceed the European Green Deal targets for 2030, which provide for a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. By 2030, the company plans to reduce the figure by another 26%.

Interpipe is a global producer of steel pipes and railway products that supplies more than 50 countries. In 2024, the company sold 511 thousand tons of pipes and 115 thousand tons of railway products. The total number of employees is about 9.5 thousand, of whom more than a thousand are currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Last year, Interpipe paid UAH 5.5 billion in taxes, a record amount in the company’s history.
