The company does not consider it expedient to acquire its own fleet
Ukrainian industrial group “Interpipe” for the first time in its history began to operate the ship, which took a time charter.
About this in a comment to the CTS said the director of procurement and logistics of the company Alexei Yanovsky.
Thus, the company implements in practice the involvement of its own vessels instead of traditional freight. At the same time, Interpipe does not consider it expedient to acquire its own fleet.
As Yanovsky noted, now this vessel, the name and technical characteristics of which are not specified, performs feeder deliveries from Odessa to the port of Varna, and also delivers products to the Georgian port of Poti, from where it is sent to the company’s customers in the CIS countries, in particular, in Central Asia.
In an April interview with GMK Center, Olexiy Yanovsky reported that the company was on the verge of a decision to take a time charter ship for transportation on the Black Sea, given that then Interpipe delivered products from Odessa to Varna by small ships. In addition, the Director of Procurement and Logistics of the company called the opening of the Ukrainian sea corridor an extremely important event for the group, as it provided greater flexibility in making logistics decisions. Before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the sea accounted for 45% of the company’s supplies.
As GMK Center reported earlier, Interpipe in June 2024 completed the delivery of a trial batch of special thick-walled pipes for the Australian manufacturer of premium drilling equipment Harlsen Industries. The order with strict requirements for the quality of pipes was executed in cooperation with a German partner. For shipment and customs clearance of products to Australia, the company attracted logisticians from the Netherlands.
