In May, prices on steel bars, beams, corners and hot-rolled sheets fell

The decrease in prices for construction metal in May – bars, beams, corners and hot-rolled sheet – was 2.3-11.5%. The price of profiled and round pipes did not change, according to consolidated index of construction steel prices by Ukrainian Center for Steel Construction.

The dynamics of prices for construction metal in May did not change, although some types of metal products decreased, in particular:

  • bars – by 2.3%, up to UAH 32.3 thousand per ton;
  • hot-rolled sheet – by 3.1%, up to UAH 43.5 thousand per ton;
  • corners – by 8.6%, up to UAH 25.6 thousand per ton;
  • beams – by 11.5%, up to UAH 26.4 thousand.

The price of profiled pipe in April was up to UAH 45.3 thousand per ton (+ 11.5% since the beginning of the year) and round pipe – UAH 45 thousand per ton (+ 11.5%). And they have not changed in May.

At the same time, prices fell after April 29. At the beginning of last month, they even grew.

As the situation on the front changes, metal traders are reopening their metal bases. Vartis has resumed its metal bases in Kyiv and Kyiv region. In mid-May, Metinvest-SMC reopened its center in Kharkiv.

Earlier GMK Center reported that in 2021 construction metal prices increased by an average of 10.3%. In 2020, prices for construction metal increased by an average of 72.2%.
