In 2024, ArcelorMittal allocated more than UAH 60 million to support communities and charity

In 2024, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih allocated more than UAH 60 million to support communities and provide charitable assistance to war victims. Last year, these areas became the main ones in the company’s social and charitable activities. This was reported to GMK Center by the company’s press service.

Since the beginning of the war, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has provided over UAH 710 million in charitable assistance.

“Our main task in 2024 was to operate despite all the challenges and to be able to pay taxes and help the communities. We managed to achieve this in particular thanks to support from the parent company. During last 3 war years the Group supported us with more than 1bln USD of cash, of which USD 0.3bln to finance capital investments,” said Mauro Longobardo, CEO of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.

According to him, as one of the largest taxpayers, the company understands that these funds are used for the country’s defense and the approaching Victory Day. It is also about responsibility to the city, surrounding communities and employees.

“Despite the unprofitable financial results, we did a lot of work to reintegrate veterans who returned to us after serving in the Ukrainian military, helped the families of our fallen colleagues, employees affected by enemy attacks, and assisted in the restoration of infrastructure facilities in various communities. We will continue to do everything we can to ensure that Ukraine wins and starts rebuilding,” emphasized the CEO of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.

A significant part of the company’s social assistance is to help the families of the deceased employees (last year it amounted to UAH 35.55 million), as well as to employees whose housing was destroyed or damaged as a result of hostile shelling (over UAH 6.4 million in 2024).

In 2024, the company allocated UAH 3.4 million to repair the neurological department of the Kryvyi Rih Central District Hospital of the Novopil Village Council, and more than UAH 1.8 million was donated to the city’s educational institutions.

In 2024, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih continued to provide assistance to communities, allocating about UAH 1 million for their development.

The company allocated slag and crushed stone for road filling and repair to restore the infrastructure of districts and rural communities (Metallurgical District Council in the city, Kamyanka village in Kryvyi Rih district to fill the dam, Lozuvata and Sofiyivka communities).

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih helped repair the water supply system in Stepove village of the Hrechanopodivska community and provided slag for road repairs in Kherson region. The company also manufactured and installed a monument to the fallen defenders in the village of Arkhanhelskein Kherson region.

The company also provided 100 thousand tons of blast furnace slag to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine for the construction of departmental border roads.

In addition, PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih provided assistance in other areas, mostly aimed at working with veterans of the enterprise and the city and their reintegration into society. These initiatives include

  • assistance to the city’s ‘Veteran’ office in setting up a newly created veteran hub;
  • assistance in organising the charity concert «Z viroiu u Peremohu» (With Faith in Victory)
  • organisation of an excursion trip for children with special needs to Kamianets-Podilskyi;
  • help from the NGO «Spilka veteraniv» (Veterans’ Union).

Last year, the company, with the support of Korn Ferry, also developed and implemented the Return of Veterans to Civilian Life project. It includes:

  • organisation of a coordination centre for veterans on the basis of the Yedyne vikno administrative service centre, (Single Window);
  • creation of inclusive workplaces with individual work with each veteran;
  • rehabilitation programs for veterans based on the company’s medical center and medical center;
  • priority vouchers for mobilized and demobilized employees;
  • preferential meals in the canteens of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.

In 2024, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih paid UAH 6.6 billion in taxes and fees to the budgets of all levels of Ukraine, up 60% from 2023. Local budgets received the largest share of UAH 3 billion.
