EUROPIPE to become supplier of ETL182 pipeline components in Germany

German pipe manufacturer EUROPIPE has announced that it will supply key components for the ETL182 pipeline, which will serve to strengthen the country’s energy independence. This is stated in the company’s press release.

Construction of ETL182 is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with commissioning expected by the end of 2027.

The approximately 88 km long liquefied natural gas pipeline connects two terminals in Brunsbüttel and Stade with the existing Gasunie gas network. It will also be ready for H2 use, laying the foundation for Germany’s future hydrogen economy.

As noted, the large-diameter pipes manufactured at EUROPIPE, measuring 1422×21, 23.5, and 28.5 mm, meet the highest requirements for strength, operational safety, and durability.

It should be noted that in August this year, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Mining, Energy and Geology (LBEG) granted early permission to start construction of several sections of the planned ETL 182 power line.

It should be recalled that Germany has reduced the volume of gas energy capacities it plans to develop to 10 GW, which is approximately half of what was planned at the beginning of the year. In this way, the country is seeking to strike a balance between decarbonization and support for renewable energy sources.

Tenders for 8 GW will be announced next year, and the new capacity will be commissioned by 2031. The terms will require new power plants to be carbon neutral by 2045. In 2026 and 2027, a tender will be held for the installation of an additional 2 GW of capacity, which will initially run on gas but must be quickly converted to hydrogen fuel. Another technology-neutral tender is planned for 2029.
