The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has extended for five years the anti-dumping duty on seamless pipes of stainless steel with a diameter of up to 426 mm, according to the EEC’s official website.
The Commission analyzed the findings of the investigation and concluded that the lift of the anti-dumping measure could entail an influx of dumping imports of goods thereby eroding the EAEU economy.
The decision to extend the duties was initiated by the following pipe producers: Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant, Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant, Volga Pipe Plant, and TMK-Inkos.
“I would like to underscore that our manufacturers of stainless steel pipes have sufficient production capacities and are able to fully meet domestic demand. In this regard, there are no risks for consumers, and the market is stable. Yet if the measure is terminated, this stability will be disrupted,” said EEC Minister in charge of Trade Andrey Slepnev.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in late December 2020, the EEC’s Department for Internal Market Defence of the Eurasian Economic Commission extended the anti-dumping measures in respect of seamless pipes of stainless steel originating from Ukraine until 18 October 2021.
Back in late July this year, the EEC’s Department for Internal Market Defence proposed to extend the anti-dumping duty on Ukraine-made seamless pipes of stainless steel.
The largest Ukrainian manufacturer of seamless pipes of stainless steel is Centravis. The Company produces more than 1,000 pipe sizes of more than 100 types of corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant steel grades. In H1, Centravis cut pipe production by 10.2% to 8.8 thousand tons y-o-y.
