DMZ is upgrading the equipment and infrastructure of rolling mill No. 2

At the Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMZ, DCH Steel), large-scale work is underway to prepare rolling mill No. 2 for the next rolling campaign. Key technological equipment is being repaired in the shop, infrastructure is being upgraded, and new premises are being created to accommodate specialists from other departments. This is reported in the corporate newspaper.

Particular attention is being paid to heating furnace No. 2. Here, the refractory lining of the hearth has been partially replaced in several areas, the lining of the furnace opening cover at the metal outlet has been repaired, and new metal structures framing the walking beams have been installed. In the near future, it is also planned to replace two burner blocks, which will increase the efficiency of the equipment.

At the same time, inspections and repairs of the rolling mill, electrical equipment, and bridge cranes are being carried out. The plant plans to complete this work in November.

In September, the heating system was replaced in the administrative and amenity complex of the rolling mill. The old steam system was replaced with a 360 kW electric boiler, which will provide stable heat regardless of production cycles.

Preparations are also underway to relocate specialists from other departments. In addition to office space, a mechanical testing laboratory is being set up in the shop. A new power supply and heating system is already being installed here, which will create modern and comfortable working conditions.

The comprehensive modernization program aims to increase the reliability of rolling equipment, improve conditions for personnel, and ensure a stable production rhythm in future campaigns.

As a reminder, DMZ recently presented a comprehensive environmental modernization strategy as part of the European “green course.” The key areas are the construction of an electric steel melting complex (ESMC), the transition to renewable energy sources, and the complete decommissioning of coke production from May 13 this year.

Dnipro Metallurgical Plant is one of the largest steel enterprises in Ukraine. It is part of the DCH Steel group of DCH. DMZ manufactures the largest range of channels and angles and is the only producer in Ukraine of channels with parallel flanges from 12 to 30, special profiles for mechanical engineering, crane and mine rails.
