Construction volumes in Ukraine in H1 2019 increased by 21.2%

Сonstruction works performed at metallurgical plants totaled UAH 1.9 billion

According to the State Statistics Service, the construction product index in Ukraine in the first half of 2019 increased by 21.2% compared to the same period of 2018.

Residential construction index fell by 2.9%, while non-residential and engineering construction increased by 35.2% and 27.7% respectively.

The volume of construction products in January to June totaled UAH 66 billion, including residential construction — UAH 14.5 billion, non-residential and engineering construction — UAH 18.1 billion and UAH 33.4 billion respectively. The cost of construction of structures for steelmaking plants totaled UAH 1.9 billion.

New construction, reconstruction and technical re-equipment costs amounted to 77.8% of the total volume of construction products. Overhaul and minor repairs — 13.9% and 8.3% respectively.

As reported earlier, the volumes of construction works in Ukraine in January to May increased by 26.3%, up to UAH 51.8 billion, compared to the same period of the previous year. Residential construction index fell by 2.7%, while non-residential and engineering construction increased by 36.2% and 40.6% respectively.

As reported earlier, infrastructure construction picked up momentum in 2018. Thus, in 2018, the share of engineering construction in the total volume of construction works increased by 2.4 percentage points to 52.5% compared to the previous year. The share of building construction was 47.5%, which is by 2.4 percentage points less than a year earlier.
