In July-August 2022, Indian steel enterprises actively ordered cheap coke from China and Indonesia. It reduced the demand for coking coal. Also, as the publication notes, the steel market in India is affected by the 15% export duty introduced in May 2022 and by general recessionary trends in the world economy.

At the same time, Australian coking coal shipments to Vietnam in August 2022 increased by 53% month-on-month – to 1.14 million tonnes.
