ArcelorMittal Temirtau
The Kazakh steel plant ArcelorMittal Temirtau, which is part of the ArcelorMittal corporation, one of the largest steel producers in the world, increased the capacity of sheet rolling shop №1 to 42 thousand tons of sheet steel per month. The productivity of the workshop increased to a ten-year high. Kallanish reports about it.
In March 2023, the plant also increased the productivity of the sheet cutting line. The company plans to continue improving the quality indicators of its products.
Sheet rolling shop №1 produces hot-rolled coil for further processing into cold-rolled coil, as well as sheet steel. In the previous months, specialists worked on improving the quality indicators of their products.
The plant purchased two new bridge cranes for the sheet processing shop, which will reduce downtime and increase product shipments. Soon, a new cutting unit for sheet products will be installed at the site. This will increase equipment reliability and increase production and product quality.
In 2022, ArcelorMittal Temirtau recorded the best result for the production of rebar in the last 14 years, 436,000 tons of products were produced, and 427,000 tons were shipped.
Earlier, ArcelorMittal Temirtau resumed production at continuous casting machine №1 (CCM) after a major overhaul, which will improve the efficiency of the unit.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2022, Kazakhstan reduced production of steel by 8% compared to 2021 – to 4.1 million tons. Last year, global steel production decreased by 4.3% y/y – to 1.83 billion tons.
