ArcelorMittal
ArcelorMittal Corporation, one of the largest steel producers in the world, is modernizing its steel plant in Bellevale (Luxembourg). SteelOrbis informs about it.
The Spanish technology and engineering supplier Sarralle Group received the order. It includes the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and automation of equipment for ArcelorMittal Belval. The steelmaker’s investments include a 155-ton electric arc furnace and a 145-ton vacuum degasser. Sarralle is also modernizing the six-stream continuous casting machine, the flue gas extraction system and the material handling system, and the water treatment plant.
Commissioning of the plant is planned for the first quarter of 2025.
«New technologies will allow ArcelorMittal Belval to stably produce graded rolled steel and offer its customers the highest quality steel,» notes the Spanish company.
The new equipment should increase efficiency, reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, and minimize maintenance operations. Currently, the annual capacity of ArcelorMittal is almost 1.3 million tons of billet per year.
As GMK Center reported earlier, the Kazakh steel plant ArcelorMittal Temirtau, which is part of the ArcelorMittal corporation, increased the capacity of sheet rolling shop №1 to 42 thousand tons of sheet steel per month. The productivity of the workshop increased to a ten-year high.
Also, ArcelorMittal expands capacity of the production of electrical steel in France. From 2024, the Mardyck plant will produce an additional 200,000 tons of this product.
