ANNOUNCEMENT: Kallanish Europe Steel Markets 2026

The Kallanish Europe Steel Markets 2026 conference will take place on June 9–10, 2026, in Vienna, Austria.

The European steel industry has endured several challenging years—geopolitical crises and high energy costs have dampened investment and demand, while market share has increased. The situation was further complicated by stricter environmental regulations, which drove up production costs in Europe.

However, policymakers have begun to show more pragmatism, focusing on economic security and sustainability. The European Action Plan for steel and steel industry charts a path toward the region’s industrial revival. It includes an unprecedented new steel import regime, and combined with the CBAM, this is likely to lead to a significant reduction in imports and a realignment of trade patterns.

However, it remains to be seen whether sectors that use steel in the manufacturing industry will also be protected. Protecting the steel industry alone will not help create the demand that is essential for the steel industry’s return to prosperity.

Kallanish Europe Steel Markets 2026 will bring together key decision-makers from across the steel value chain to discuss these issues and explore what can be done to revive the industry’s growth.

During the conference, participants will address the following topics:

  • What will the European steel industry look like in 2026 (competitiveness, price pressures, demand);
  • The European energy market and the impact of these policies on steel;
  • Prospects for a recovery in end-user demand this year;
  • Prospects for the Chinese market;
  • the latest developments regarding CBAM, the impact of this mechanism, ETS, and the new trade regime on the industry;
  • scrap and metals – how CBAM/ETS, sanctions against Russia, and decarbonization are affecting procurement and pricing;
  • progress and prospects for low-carbon steel production;
  • trade under new conditions.
