42% of trades are successful at scrap auctions in Prozorro.Sales

For 2017-2023 the system Prozorro.Sales held more than 3,200 trades in scrap. 42% of auctions for a total amount of UAH 5 billion turned out to be successful.

Maria Olenych, Commercial Director of Prozorro.Sales, told about it during a speech at the scientific and practical conference «Ukrainian scrap market: challenges of martial law».

According to her, for 2017-2023, more than 450 unique buyers participated in the auction. At the same time, there were more than three participants in the auctions.

«In 2022, prices for scrap during auctions on Prozorro.Sales increased by an average of 21% from the starting level,» said Maria Olenych.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in January-May 2023 collection of scrap decreased by 33.5% compared to the same period in 2022 – to 444.3 thousand tons. Export of raw materials for this period amounted to 77.5 thousand tons, which is 3.1 times more y/y, and import – 0.03 thousand tons (-70% y/y).

Also, in 2022, the export of raw materials for the year has decreased in 11.4 times y/y – to 53.6 thousand tons, import – by 92.1% y/y, to 1.8 thousand tons, the volume of scrap collection in Ukraine decreased by 75.9% compared to 2021 – to 996, 7 thousand tons. Domestic supplies of raw materials to domestic steel mills decreased by 73% – to 895.7 thousand tons.
