The company aims to support patients and medical staff of the hospital and contribute to the recovery of the medical facility
The board of directors of Ferrexpo, an iron ore company with assets in Ukraine listed on the London Stock Exchange, has decided to allocate UAH 10 million to support the reconstruction of the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv. The company’s press service told GMK Center.
Two days after the devastating missile strikes, on July 10, Ferrexpo received a request from the National Specialized Children’s Hospital of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Okhmatdyt, to help finance the repair of the destroyed departments of the medical facility. The request was first reviewed by Ferrexpo’s Health, Safety, Environment and Communities (HSEC) Committee, which made its recommendation to the company’s board of directors.
On the same day, Ferrexpo’s Board of Directors decided to satisfy this request by making a contribution of UAH 10 million to Okhmatdyt as part of the Ferrexpo Humanitarian Fund program.
«Ferrexpo wants to support the patients and medical staff of Okhmatdyt in this difficult time and restore the hospital for its future operation. We believe that we can overcome all the challenges together, rebuild what was destroyed and restore safety and peace for Ukrainian children. Ukraine is strong in spirit, and Ferrexpo will always stand shoulder to shoulder with those who need our help,» said Yuriy Khymych, the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility Project Leader in Ukraine and General Director of Belanovo Mining.
Since the first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ferrexpo has been steadfastly supporting Ukraine and its communities. The company has allocated over UAH 985 million to support the needs of 12 regions of Ukraine and the country’s defense forces.
Last year, Ferrexpo hired 46 veterans who had worked for the company before mobilization. At the time of the publication of the company’s financial report, 641 employees (9% of the staff) were serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The company provides the mobilized with protective equipment, overalls and other essentials on a regular basis. When working with veterans, Ferrexpo uses the best practices of physical rehabilitation and psychological support.
