Since the beginning of 2025, Branch No. 3 of the Zaporizhzhya Foundry and Mechanical Plant (ZLMZ) has manufactured 75 slag ladles for leading steel enterprises in Ukraine, including Zaporizhstal and Kametstal. This is stated in the company’s press release.
These structures are key elements of the steel process, collecting the slag formed during the smelting of iron and steel.
The weight of one ladle is approximately 24 tons, and its service life is about 500 pours. The manufacture of such products requires high precision, durable materials, and the coordination of many specialists.
Serhii Dziuba is in charge of slag ladle production, and the foundry department has about 70 highly skilled specialists: modelers, farmers, molders, cutters, crane operators, welders, gas cutters, and others. Each stage is monitored to ensure that the products meet the technical standards of our partners.
Thanks to the well-coordinated work of the ZLMZ team, production is stable, and steel enterprises receive reliable and durable components for the uninterrupted operation of blast furnaces and steel-making shops.
It should be noted that ZLMZ has implemented a number of energy efficiency measures and achieved a significant reduction in specific electricity consumption. In particular, specialists from Branch No. 2 have been working since the beginning of the year to reduce the specific electricity consumption of the compressor station. Thanks to these measures, the average monthly specific electricity consumption of the compressor station decreased from 389 kWh per ton of finished products in April-August 2024 to 335 kWh/t of finished products in April-August 2025.
