Запорожсталь
Four months after joining the Metinvest Group, the Metinvest Tubular IAȘI pipe plant is demonstrating a gradual increase in production volumes and integration into the company’s operational processes. Zaporizhstal plays a key role in this, fully supplying the Romanian facility with hot-rolled coils. This is stated in a press release.
Since the beginning of 2026, the Ukrainian plant has already shipped more than 28,000 tons of structural steel products to Iași. These products are used to manufacture round, shaped, and rectangular welded pipes that comply with European standards and are used in construction, energy, and geothermal engineering.
Intra-group shipments help improve the efficiency of the production chain and ensure stable utilization of Ukrainian production capacity. This is particularly important given the challenging market conditions and limited demand for steel.
Metinvest notes that synergies between the companies help strengthen their position in the European market. Further deepening of integration is expected to allow for an increase in production and supply volumes in the near future.
As reported by GMK Center, on December 16, 2025, Metinvest closed a deal to acquire the Romanian company ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iași, located in the city of Iași. The plant specializes in the production of welded structural tubes for the construction, engineering, infrastructure, and agricultural sectors. Its maximum production capacity is 240,000 metric tons per year. This asset became Metinvest Group’s first production site in Romania.
