Zaporizhkoks reduced production to 434,000 tons in 1H2025

PJSC Zaporizhkoks, one of the largest producers of coke for steel industry in Ukraine, reduced its production by 0.3% in January-June 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, to 434,100 tons. This is evidenced by GMK Center calculations based on the company’s data.

In June, production increased by 0.4% compared to the previous month and by 5.2% year-on-year, to 76.3 thousand tons.

During the second quarter, the company increased production by 1.8% compared to the same period in 2024, and by 7% compared to the previous quarter, to 224.36 thousand tons.

It should be noted that coke imports to Ukraine in January-April 2025 increased by 64.2% year-on-year – to 256.63 thousand tons. In April, imports of coke amounted to 44.26 thousand tons, which is 21.6% less than in the previous month and 0.9% less than in April 2024.

In addition, in early April, the first ship of 2025 with coking coal from the US, chartered by the Metinvest Group, arrived in the country. The bulk carrier Bison delivered 80 thousand tons of raw materials from the United Coal Company, which is part of the group and is located in the Appalachian region of the US.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2024, Zaporizhkoks increased coke production by 2.1% compared to 2023, to 874,600 tons.

Since 2022, the company has allocated more than UAH 360 million for the capital renovation of the coke oven fleet. Most of the funds were invested in the overhaul of coke oven batteries No. 2 and No. 5-6. Recent investment projects include the overhaul of coke pusher No. 3 on coke oven battery (COB) No. 5-6 and the overhaul of the U-30 charge feeding line in the coal preparation shop.

Zaporizhkoks is a key producer of coke chemical products in Ukraine. It is part of the Metinvest Group. The main consumer of its products is the Zaporizhstal steel plant.
