Production for the first five months are on par with last year's levels

PJSC Zaporizhcoke, one of Ukraine’s largest producers of coke for the metallurgical industry, increased its output by 3.6% in May compared to the previous month, reaching 77,700 tons. This is according to calculations by GMK Center based on the company’s data.

Compared to the same month in 2025, blast furnace coke production increased by 2.1%.

Zaporizhcoke’s production level for January–May—359,400 tons—is virtually on par with the figure for the same period in 2025 (358,000 tons).

The weak results are a consequence of difficulties that arose at the beginning of the year. In January, the company reported a reduction in coal concentrate supplies due to shelling of Ukraine’s port and transport infrastructure, which complicated the delivery of raw materials, as well as power outages that limit the stable operation of production units. In February, production volumes began to recover and continued this trend in March and April.

As a reminder, based on the results for 2025, Zaporizhcoke increased production by 2.7% compared to the same period in 2024—to 898,300 tons. In the fourth quarter, the company produced 228,600 tons of coke, which is 4.2% more than in the same period of 2024 and 3% less than in the previous quarter.

Since 2022, the company has allocated over UAH 360 million for the major overhaul of the coke oven battery fleet. The majority of the funds were invested in the major repairs of coke oven batteries No. 2 and No. 5–6. Recent investment projects include the overhaul of coke pusher No. 3 on coke battery No. 5–6 and the overhaul of the U-30 charge feeding line in the coal preparation shop.

Zaporizhcoke is the leading producer of coke chemical products in Ukraine. It is part of the Metinvest Group. The main consumer of its products is the Zaporizhstal steel mill.
