Zaporizhcoke carried out a major overhaul of the equipment at coking battery No. 5–6 at a cost of 10 million UAH

One of the largest producers of coke for the steel industry – Zaporizhcoke – has completed a major overhaul of door-removal machine No. 3 at coke oven battery No. 5–6. Metinvest allocated over 10 million UAH to the project, according to the company’s press office.

As part of the overhaul, the steel structures of the smoke-free coke discharge system and the supporting steel structures of the door-opening machine were refurbished; the staircases and cabin cladding were replaced; and the unit’s main components and mechanisms were repaired.

The door-opening machine is one of the key units in a coke oven battery. It opens and closes the oven doors, cleans deposits from the door fittings and prepares the ovens for the next coking cycle

“Adherence to the coke delivery schedule, the continuity of production and the stable operation of the coke battery depend on the reliable operation of the equipment. That is why systematic repairs remain a key prerequisite for the enterprise’s sustainable operation,” the publication states.

Metinvest Group is consistently investing in the modernisation of Zaporizhcoke’s production facilities. Such projects enhance the reliability of technological processes, minimise the risks of unscheduled shutdowns and ensure uninterrupted production.

As reported by GMK Center, Zaporizhkox increased its output by 3.6% in May compared with the previous month, reaching 77.7 thousand tonnes. Zaporizhkox’s production volume for January–May — 359.4 thousand tonnes — is virtually on a par with the figure for the same period in 2025 (358 thousand tonnes).
