Voestalpine to supply high-bay storage systems for logistics hub in Istanbul

Austrian steel producer voestalpine has received an order for high-bay storage systems for a logistics center in Istanbul – the largest in the company’s history to date. This was reported by voestalpine.

The total value of the contract is €41 million. Voestalpine will supply modern high-bay storage systems to a leading Turkish logistics service provider in Istanbul for the construction of a modern logistics center for sports equipment. The project is scheduled for completion in April 2027.

The order includes the construction of a high-bay warehouse and an automated small parts warehouse (miniload).

«For years, we have seen high demand worldwide for our high-quality storage system solutions. This record order once again demonstrates our technological expertise and innovative strength,» said Herbert Eibenstainer, CEO of voestalpine AG.

Voestalpine has been one of the leading suppliers of high-bay storage systems, as well as manual and automated storage systems, for many years. According to the company, the large order in Turkey is just one of voestalpine’s flagship projects in this field. In the Netherlands, the construction of two 45-meter high-bay warehouses for the distribution center of furniture retailer JYSK was recently completed. Another prestigious project is currently being implemented for a retail company in the UK.

The successful implementation of these international projects is accompanied by the targeted further development of voestalpine’s global activities in the field of storage systems. In the 2024/25 financial year, a specially designed production site was built in Kentucky (USA) to meet the growing demand in the country.

It should be noted that last fall, voestalpine produced the world’s first hydrogen-based railroad rail at its Donavica site as part of a pilot project. The new type of rail is made from a mixture of scrap metal and iron recovered with hydrogen—without the use of fossil fuels or CO2 emissions.
