Voestalpine has received orders in the aerospace sector worth approximately €1 billion

Austrian steelmaker voestalpine, through its High Performance Metals division, has secured aerospace orders totaling approximately €1 billion over the next five years, according to a company statement.

Europe’s largest aerospace and aircraft manufacturing corporation, Airbus, is a party to the agreement. The services provided to Airbus will cover a wide range—from high-tech materials and complex components to comprehensive global logistics services. The orders will be fulfilled at voestalpine sites in Styria (Austria) as well as at its Brazilian subsidiary, Villares Metals.

As noted, for the High Performance Metals division, this marks the largest order volume in the aerospace sector in voestalpine’s entire history.

The Austrian steel manufacturer produces high-tech materials for the aerospace industry (bars, profiles, sheets and plates, special forgings, practically ready for installation in the fuselage, engine, and landing gear). These high-quality products can withstand significant temperature fluctuations and centrifugal forces, as well as high mechanical loads. voestalpine products are used in the Airbus A320, A330, and A350 aircraft families

The production of high-quality stamped parts made of titanium alloys, high-alloy steels, and nickel alloys for large orders takes place at the plant in Kapfenberg—the new special steel facility supplies blanks of the highest quality for aircraft components. Special forgings are also produced here. High-tech titanium sheets for the aerospace industry are produced at the plant in Mürzzuschlag.

Global logistics services are coordinated through the company’s own international network, with distribution centers in Kapfenberg, Birmingham, Chicago, Toronto, Shanghai, and Chennai.

As a reminder, in March, voestalpine announced that its Railway Systems division had received orders totaling €500 million from two European railway operators. The customers are national railways—Germany’s Deutsche Bahn and Switzerland’s Schweizerische Bundesbahnen. The contracts cover the supply of rails, switch systems, as well as signaling technologies and monitoring systems.
