UZ plans to create a carrier company to operate in Europe

By the end of 2023, Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) can create a company that will work in the freight transportation sector in Europe. This was told by the chairman of the UZ board Oleksandr Kamyshyn, informs Interfax-Ukraine.

According to Oleksandr Kamyshyn, UZ plans to develop a European carrier in both cargo and passenger transportation. He noted that the national railway operator has shown its effectiveness.

The carrier company can be established by the end of 2023. However, it depends , in particular, from the speed of agreements in Europe. In addition, it is necessary not only to purchase rolling stock, but also to obtain a license, register and recruit a team.

As the chairman of the UZ board explained, the need to create our own cargo carrier company for work outside of Ukraine is dictated by the fact that domestic cargo carriers have difficulties in working with European ones.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Ukraine has resumed the movement of trains at two sections on the border with Poland – State border – Starzhava – Khyriv – Nižankovychy – State border (line 102) and Khyriv – Sambir. Ukrzaliznytsia repaired almost 70 km of tracks, renovated 10 bridges on these sections, in addition, station infrastructure in Khyrov, Nižankovychy and Starzhava was restored.

Also, Ukraine will continue in 2023 develop logistics on the border with the EU. It is about opening new checkpoints on the border with the European Union and increasing the capacity of existing ones. And also about the construction of roads, bridges and railways, which are of critical importance for Ukrainian exports.
