Ukrzaliznytsia transported more than 2 million tons of iron ore in July

The indicator increased by 3.2% compared to the previous month

Ukrzaliznytsia in July 2022 increased the transportation of iron and manganese ore by 3.2% compared to the previous month – up to 2.03 million tons. Olexandr Kamyshyn, the head of the board of UZ, informed about it on his Telegram channel.

In general, for the month UZ transported 10.3 million tons of cargo, which is 9.2% more than in June of this year. In particular: oil products – 542 thousand tons (+12.2%), grain – 1.46 million tons (+7.2%), other cargo – 6.26 million tons (+11.6%).

According to the results of July, transportation in domestic traffic increased by 10.5% compared to June – up to 6.2 million tons, 3.4 million tons of goods were sent for export (+8.7%), and import transportation increased by 4.5 %, up to 598.8 thousand tons.

“Yes, growth is slow, but we are doing everything possible to constantly increase freight traffic, primarily export cargo. We hope that the unblocking of seaports for grain will help us to increase its exports sooner,” said Olexandr Kamyshyn.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia, following the results of January-June 2022, reduced export shipments of iron and manganese ore by 29.3% compared to the same period in 2021 – to 15.7 million tons. Transportation of ferrous metals decreased by 52.6% – to 3.7 million tons. In general, over 6 months, UZ transported 85 million tons of cargo, reducing the index by 42.2%.

At the end of 2021, Ukrzaliznytsia reduced transportation of iron and manganese ore by 2.7% compared to 2020 – to 77.6 million tons. Export traffic fell by 3% – to 44.6 million tons, while domestic – increased by 3.1%, to 27, 7 million tons
