Ukrzaliznytsia introduces a convention for the transportation of iron ore to the Czech Republic

Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) introduces new conventions (restrictions) for carriage of wagons towards Hungary and the Czech Republic, informs Rail.Insider with a reference to UZ.

One of the restrictions introduced by the national railway operator concerns the transportation of sinter ore, iron ore and concentrate through Chop to the Czech stations of Trzynec and Ostrava-Bartowice for the consignees Trinecke zelezarny and Liberty Ostrava. The convention will be implemented from January 29 and will be valid until canceled.

In addition, UZ expanded the nomenclature of cargoes in the limitation to the transportation of wagons for the Hungarian MMV through the Batyovo station. The convention enters into force on January 26.

As the publication notes, together with the two mentioned above, the total number of active conventions published on the Ukrzaliznytsia website has already reached 200.

The transportation of ferrous metals last year decreased by 57.8% compared to 2021 year – to about 9.2 million tons. In total, during the year, UZ transported 150.6 million tons of cargo, which is 52.1% less compared to 2021.
