Since the beginning of 2022, Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) has completed a major overhaul of almost 400 km of railway tracks. The information resource of UZ, created for the Day of the railwayman, reports about it.
The railway operator is also carrying out the electrification of 65 km of tracks. In June 2022, UZ electrified 43 km of the railway section Kovel – Izov – State border. The implementation of the project will increase the transfer of railcars through the border crossing with Poland.
By the end of 2022, UZ planned to build and restore a record amount of infrastructure – 149.3 km of railway tracks and electrify 56.8 km of tracks. Such plans were made public in August 2022.
As of mid-May 2022, Ukrzaliznytsia, despite the war, updated 195.8 km of railway tracks with various types of repair. Thus, 55.9 km of tracks were reconstructed, 25.2 km of tracks were renovated with a major overhaul, and 114.7 km were repaired with a medium one.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2021, Ukrzaliznytsia increased the overhaul and the reconstruction of railway tracks by 2 times compared to 2020 – up to 321.6 km. Last year, the volume of track overhaul increased by 2.6 times compared to the previous year – up to 127.3 km, and reconstruction – by 72.6%, to 194.3 km.
In October 2022, UZ reduced transportation of iron and manganese ores by 4.3% compared to the previous month – to 1.43 million tons. Transportation of ferrous metals in October 2022 decreased by 9.2% or 63.8 thousand tons compared to September – to 628.5 thousand tons.
