The launch of Dnipro-made satellite, Sich-2-30, from Cape Canaveral, the U.S., is scheduled for 10 January 2022, according to a post on a Facebook page of the Head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine (SSAU), Volodymyr Taftay.
The Ukrainian satellite, Sich-2-30, manufactured at Yuzhnoye SDO in Dnipro, has been successfully tested and is currently ready to be delivered to the launch base at Cape Canaveral (Florida, the U.S.). The State Space Agency of Ukraine and Yuzhnoye SDO completed works according to the schedule. All parameters of the satellite meet the technical requirements,” says Volodymyr Taftay.
He added that the Ukrainian satellite will be transported from Dnipro to the U.S. in the coming days. In the United States, works are to be performed to prepare the satellite for launching and docking with a launch vehicle.
As reported earlier, the launch of Sich-2-30 will mark the first step towards the implementation of the National Target Scientific and Technical Space Program of Ukraine. The program provides for the creation of Ukraine’s constellation of at least seven satellites.
In April, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution identifying the sources of the project funding and the customer for the launch of the first Ukraine-made Earth remote sensing satellite.
The assembly started in 2013. It was initially supposed to be in orbit in 2017.
In June 2021, Ukraine has already made an advance payment for the launch of the first satellite.
