Ukrainian seaports handled 82.2 million tons of cargo in 2025

Last year, Ukraine’s seaports handled 82.2 million tons of cargo. This is stated in a report by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.

The planned cargo turnover for last year was 86.2 million tons, so the actual result corresponds to more than 95% of the plan. At the same time, the forecast cargo turnover (81.77 million tons) was exceeded by 100.5%.

More than half (53.7% of the total transshipment volume) last year was agricultural products – 44.2 million tons. It is noted that container traffic has grown significantly – in 2025, ports handled 215,748 TEU compared to 129,902 TEU a year earlier (+66%).

As noted by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba, seaports operate under constant threat but remain a key pillar of the economy. During the year, Ukrainian products were exported to 55 countries around the world.

«This once again confirms the resilience of the port industry and Ukraine’s ability to operate even in conditions of military threats,» he stressed.

It should be noted that Ukraine’s seaports handled 18.5 million tons of ore cargo in 2024. Total cargo turnover reached a record 97.2 million tons last year, compared to 62 million tons in 2023, with exports amounting to 88.1 million tons.

As reported by GMK Center, Ukraine’s trade turnover in January-December 2025 amounted to $125.1 billion. Last year, the country imported goods worth $84.8 billion and exported goods worth $40.3 billion.
