Ukrainian sea corridor ensured export of more than 25 million tons of cargo in 2025

Since the beginning of 2025, the Ukrainian Sea Corridor has already transported more than 25 million tons of cargo, including more than 15 million tons of grain. In total, 120 million tons have passed through the ports of Greater Odesa since its launch, including 76 million tons of agricultural products. This is stated in a press release from the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

This route has become critically important for the Ukrainian economy, especially for the steel industry. According to NBU estimates, up to 30% of steel exports are carried out through this corridor. Its stable operation has allowed Ukrainian producers to maintain their positions in global markets and maintain foreign exchange earnings in the country.

Unlike the “grain initiative” that Russia blocked, the new sea route allows exporting not only agricultural products but also industrial goods, including steel and machinery. This has become one of the key factors in economic stabilization during the war.

“The sea corridor is a tool of stability that dozens of countries rely on. Ukraine is holding the line in defense and in maintaining global food security,” said Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Ukrainian seaports handled 18.5 million tons of ore cargo in 2024. Last year, the total cargo turnover reached a record high of 97.2 million tons compared to 62 million tons in 2023, while exports amounted to 88.1 million tons.
