Ukrainian Railways (UZ) will provide the service of transportation of goods in transit on the territory of Moldova in all connections. It is stated in the company’s press release.
The relevant contract was concluded by the Transport Logistics Center (TLC) branch of UZ and the Moldovan railway operator Calea Ferată din Moldova (CFM).
According to a member of the UZ board Vyacheslav Yeromin, in a new contract, the parties recorded an agreement on the provision by the Ukrainian operator of a full range of services for transit transportation of goods through Moldova.
«From now on, the consignor will receive a single window service and will not need to conclude separate contracts for the rental of railcars, forwarding, or look for a counterparty. We will provide a comprehensive transportation service on the territory of both Ukraine and Moldova,» he emphasized.
This step will make it possible to strengthen the company’s export capabilities and increase the volume of transportation of strategically important export cargoes.
To receive services, shippers need to conclude an agreement on the provision of transport and forwarding services. The terms of execution of volumes and possible discounts will be regulated by the contract agreement protocol between the customer and the TLC branch.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in June 2023, Ukrainian Railways increased transportation of cargo by 32% compared to the same period in 2022 – up to 12.4 million tons. Transportation of cargo in domestic traffic increased by 40.6% y/y in this period – up to 7.9 million tons, export – by 24.3%, up to 4 million tons.
Also, at the end of June 2023, UZ registered in Poland the carrier company Ukrainian Railways Cargo Poland LLC. In this way, UZ begins the development of a full-fledged cargo transportation operator on the territory of the EU countries. The main principle of the work of the international division will be close ties with foreign partners, transparency and competition.
