Ukrainian Railways to hold meeting with businesses regarding scrap metal sales

On September 11, Ukrainian Railways will hold a meeting with companies interested in purchasing scrap metal at auctions held by the state-owned carrier.

During the meeting, it is planned to discuss the results of previous auctions and take into account the proposals and comments of market participants. In particular, the meeting will focus on the volumes and conditions of sale, possible changes in conditions, and approaches to pricing.

The possibility of concluding long-term contracts and other issues important for business will also be considered.

The meeting will be held on September 11 this year at 10:00 a.m.

Venue: lounge of the Central Station of Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi Station (to the left of the main entrance)

You can get accredited for the meeting at this link.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Ukrainian Railways resumed scrap trading on May 16 this year. Prior to that, raw materials had not been sold since September 2023. In the first nine months of that year, the railway operator sold only 76,400 tons of scrap metal, while in 2022, it sold 113,000 tons against a target of 170,000 tons.

The total volume of ferrous metal scrap collection in Ukraine in 2024 increased by 37% year-on-year and amounted to over 1.7 million tons. Scrap deliveries to steel enterprises during the same period amounted to 1.34 million tons (30% year-on-year).
