Ukrainian producers reduced steel production by 18% in February

In February 2022, companies of Ukraine’s iron & steel industry reduced steel production by 18% to 1.37 million tons y-o-y, according to the updated statistics of Ukrmetallurgprom as of February 24, 2022.

Production of pig iron in February dropped by 20.3% to 1.35 million tons, while production of rolled products fell by 20.2% to 1.19 million tons.

In January-February 2022, Ukrainian metallurgists produced 3.13 million tons, down 10.7% y-o-y. In two month, steel production fell by 8,2% to 3.22 million tons y-o-y, while production of rolled products dropped by 9.2% to 2.86 million tons.

As reported earlier, in 2021, companies of Ukraine’s iron & steel industry ramped up steel production by 3.6% to 21.37 million tons y-o-y. Production of rolled products grew by 3.5% to 19.08 million tons, pig iron by 3.6% to 21.17 million tons.
