Ukraine suspects Chinese wire importers of dumping

The Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade (ICIT) has begun an anti-dumping investigation into imports of wire from China to Ukraine.

Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm, which represents interests of PlasmaTec LLC, initiated the anti-dumping investigation.

The subject of the investigation is Ukraine’s imports of goods from the People’s Republic of China, featuring the following description: wires of manganese-silicon steel classified under the HS code 7229200000.

The Ministry of Economy is in charge of the anti-dumping investigation. The proceedings will cover the period of imports of Chinese metal products to Ukraine from 2018 to 2020.

According to the anti-dumping investigation findings, ICIT may impose an anti-dumping duty on wire imports from China.

“Following the deliverables of the anti-dumping investigation in question, an anti-dumping duty may be imposed on import of wires from the People’s Republic of China for the purpose of establishing fair competition and protecting Ukrainian manufacturers from dumping imports,” according to Ilyashev & Partners.

PlasmaTec LLC is one of Ukraine’s largest manufacturers of welding materials and semi-finished products for welding electrodes.

As reported earlier, Ukraine began an investigation into imports of steel fixtures from China in late January 2020, and an investigation into imports of China-made coated coil in late December 2020.
