Ukraine’s trade turnover in January amounted to $9.9 billion

Ukraine’s trade turnover in January 2026 amounted to $9.9 billion, according to data from the State Customs Service.

During the month, goods worth $6.7 billion were imported into the country, while exports amounted to $3.2 billion. Taxable imports amounted to $4.4 billion (66% of the total volume of imported goods).

Among the countries from which Ukraine imported the most goods in January were China ($1.9 billion), Turkey ($703 million), and Poland ($623 million). The largest exports from the country were to Poland ($358 million), Turkey ($276 million), and Italy ($232 million).

The following categories accounted for 69% of the total volume of goods imported last month:

  • machinery, equipment, and transport – $2.7 billion;
  • fuel and energy products – $1.1 billion;
  • chemical industry products – $869 million.

The top three goods exported from Ukraine in January were food products ($2 billion), metals and metal products ($286 million), and machinery, equipment, and transport ($253 million).

During customs clearance of goods subject to export duties, UAH 187.1 million was paid to the budget.

As a reminder, Ukraine’s trade turnover amounted to $125.1 billion in 2025. Last year, the country imported goods worth $84.8 billion and exported goods worth $40.3 billion. Taxable imports amounted to $64.3 billion (76% of the total volume of imported goods).

As reported by GMK Center, analysts expect Ukraine’s GDP to grow to $226 billion in 2026. Amid shelling, rising tariffs, and a lack of new drivers for the Ukrainian economy, minimal growth is expected at best.
